Fair Market Value: Death & Taxes 

Frances Zeman.  A member of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) since 1980, Fran graduated with a B.S. degree from the University College of New York University and earned an M.A. degree in Art History from Brooklyn College (CUNY). She is accredited by the American Society of Appraisers to appraise Fine Art, Antiques and Decorative Arts, Oriental Rugs and Residential Contents-General. She has also competed ASA coursework in preparation for an Appraisal Review and Management – Personal Property (ARM) designation. An ASA Fellow and designated Life Member, Fran is a former chair of the Personal Property Committee, is a current advisor to that committee and as the Personal Property representative on the International Ethics Committee.

Shirley M. Sanders.  Shirley M. Sanders is the owner of Portland, OR based Red Sign Estate Sales and Appraisals, LLC. In addition to Personal Property Appraisal work, Ms. Sanders provides estate consultations and consignment liquidations. With over 32 years of experience as a Personal Property generalist, Shirley works with estate attorneys, personal representatives, insurance agents and private clients for Estate, Dissolution, Insurance Replacement and Loss, Non-Cash Charitable Contributions, and other Fair Market valuations.

John V. Henley.  John V. Henley is a native son of Portland, OR. He has worked in the new, used and rare book business since 1967, starting out as a teenage book-scout for Cal’s Books and Wares in downtown Portland. He is perhaps best known for his work on the management team for what was at the time a small bookstore of 6 employees, including the owner, located on West Burnside Street.  During his time at Powell’s, the store grew to five locations and over 200 employees. John then became a partner in the Great Northwest Bookstore, at the time, where he issued catalogues, bought and sold rare books as well as all manner of printed or handwritten collectibles including photographs, vintage maps, autographs, documents, manuscripts, and archives.
